Ascendance Truck Centers is pleased to announce that Connor Moon, Service Technician based in the Johnstown, PA, branch, was recently honored with 2023 Rookie Technician of Influence Award from Navistar for June 2023. The Rookie Technician of Influence Award is given to technician professionals with less than two years of experience at the dealership, have shown commitment to Uptime by being top producers, have gone the extra mile, and have proven they are responsible and trustworthy. They have also demonstrated their commitment to pursuing continuous improvement and delivering the highest level of customer service.
Connor is a technician that has shown dedication and drive to learn all the skills necessary to become a great technician. He has been a tech with Ascendance Truck Centers, formerly Five Star International, for less than 2 years, and in this short time, he has quickly excelled with the dealership. His knowledge of all things trucking is extraordinary, and he is extremely skilled with the transmission side of the industry. Very quickly Connor has taken the lead on being the Johnstown branch’s transmission and clutch specialist, staying current on all the bulletins, and offering assistance and guidance to his fellow technicians with issues or questions.
Eager to learn and always sourcing knowledge from the veteran technicians in the shop, Connor is steadfastly focused on continuous improvement. He consistently seeks out future training opportunities to sharpen his skillset. Moreover, Connor is always willing to go the extra mile for customers. He is a true team player who quickly volunteers for jobs that most techs would shy away from, and he does this knowing he can improve his knowledge and workmanship. Recently, Connor volunteered to stay after his shift to help complete an A26 engine repair so a customer could get their driver back on the road. This was not an isolated occurrence as Connor frequently puts in long hours, staying late to complete a job to get trucks back on the road.
“Connor has been a great addition to this team,” said Derek Shearman, Service Manager at the Johnstown branch. “He brings a lot of ambition and professionalism to the dealership, and he always has a smile on his face. Connor constantly shows honor, respect, and devotion to his work, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Connor.”
